The Waltham Sunday Football League was founded in 1961 and it has consistently been one of the strongest adult Sunday Leagues in the South-East of England since then with many of its member clubs reaching County Cup Finals at the end of each season. The League is based in the Cheshunt & Waltham Cross area of Hertfordshire, but member clubs are spread as far apart as Hertford to the North, Waltham Abbey to the East, Potters Bar to the West and Tottenham to the South. The League is therefore directly affiliated to the Football Association as it encompasses four different Counties (Hertfordshire, London, Essex & Middlesex).
The Waltham Sunday Football League regrets to announce that it will not be operating for Season 2016-2017. A number of clubs have either folded or have decided to join other local leagues, which has made it impossible for our League to continue next season. The League is hopeful that it can attract new clubs again and a number of League Officers will work on this over the coming months.
The League bank account will be left untouched for up to 2 years should the League start up again, but if not the funds will go to the Herts FA. Officers would like to thank all clubs, secretaries, officials and referees for their continued support over the many years that the League has been operating.
